As we begin to wind down the year 2016, we have been thinking about some wedding trends of 2016 that we absolutely loved, and hope to see carry on into 2017! We’ve compiled a short list of some of our very favourite trends that caught on this past year that we’re hoping to see a lot more of.
Use of Greenery
This trend may have picked up again in the past couple of years, but we’ve really seen it take off more than ever recently. For a while, a lot of couples were opting for no greenery. Now we’re seeing the use of it throughout bouquets, centrepieces and other decor, whether that be for a filler or the whole focal point - we cannot get enough! A few of our favourites: Cocculus stems, Leucadendron Pisa Spray stems, Eucalyptus and Succulents.
A lot of couples have opted for a minimalistic feel to their decor. Doing so, in our opinion, brings out an atmosphere that looks effortless and cozy. A lot of tones and textures being used are more earthy than flashy. Some different minimalistic looks we’ve loved include solid wood farm tables, crisp white linens and plates, and large pillar candles.
Non-Traditional Wedding Dresses
For the past few seasons, designers have been seriously bringing their A-game with new ideas for bridal wear. We love that in 2016 we have seen more and more brides wear really bold gowns. From deep red gowns to patterned dresses - we have loved seeing such a variety of new hues in bridal wear.
We have seen many couples choosing to mix a variety of styles to create a warm and inviting decor that has an eclectic touch. Mixing modern, farm and vintage into one beautiful wedding is something we have been loving this year. Ideas that compliment this style: farm tables with flannel throws over the chairs, with geometrically designed centrepieces and huge pillar candles. Somehow, it just works.
